A nature and wellness holiday on the Île de Ré
Located in the shade of the famous Phare des Baleines lighthouse, the gem of the Ile de Ré island, the La Plage campsite enjoys one of the loveliest settings on the island. Close to the salt marshes, it is also near the Conche des Baleines beach, both authentic and wild. This takes the form of a wide long sandy beach, which stretches out from the Phare des Baleines up to the Les Portes de Ré village. It is partly bordered by the Forêt du Lizay national forest and its layout is perfect for swimming, but also for kitesurfing, kite-flying, windsurfing, surfing or sailing.
From the campsite, you will be able to go to the beach to do shore fishing, an activity which children love! However before that, it is necessary to put your bags one of the pitches or in one of the holiday rentals, of this 4-star outdoor establishment on the Île de Ré.
To this end, the La Plage campsite offers green and wooded plots, separated from each other by hedgerows. You can set up your tent, your caravan, your converted vehicle or your camper. Sanitary blocks, with a nursery area and access for persons with reduced mobility, are available on-site.

For even more comfort, you can hire various types of accommodation on this Saint Clément des Baleines campsite. There are mobile homes and furnished tents which enable everyone to make the most of the delights of open-air life, whilst enjoying a degree of additional wellness. The “L’Ecluse” bar - restaurant, offers refreshments and meals to eat in or take away. There is also a stand selling bread and sweet breads and buns such as brioches, croissants and pains au chocolat, enabling us to meet holidaymakers’ needs!
Although the perfect location of this île de Ré campsite enables you to quickly reach the beach or go for a half-day or a full day trip, its leisure facilities offer you the opportunity to amuse yourself, without having to leave the campsite! Thus, thanks to its water park, you are able to make the most of a large swimming pool and a paddling pool for swimming. In the high season, aquaerobics sessions and muscle stretching sessions take place here.
La Plage also has a gym, equipped with ellipticals, treadmills, rowing machines and abdominal boards. A sports coach offers fitness classes in July and August. After all this effort, you will be able to make the most of the comfort offered by the campsite Zen space, a genuine spa equipped with a sauna and a steam room. A children’s playground, a mini-club, activities and evening events complete the entertainment offering of this establishment.

Just a stone’s throw from the campsite, the Phare des Baleines lighthouse is one of the major tourist attractions on the Île de Ré island. Listed as a historic monument (“monument historique”), this lighthouse, which is 57 metres tall, started operating in 1854. Still operating, its beam has a range of about 50 kilometres! A further not-to-be-missed attraction, during your stay on the Île de Ré, is the fortified town of Saint Martin de Ré. This is around twenty kilometres from the La Plage campsite. To protect the entire population of the island, in the event of attack, King Louis XIV entrusted to the famous military engineer, Sébastien Le Prester de Vauban, the responsibility of fortifying the town. The latter here produced one of his most beautiful works, a magnificent star-shaped fortification, which makes Saint Martin de Ré deserving of being classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site…
