This 5-star campsite of the Pyrenees Atlantiques offers indeed great facilities, including a water park of 1,100 m², with a swimming pool, a small pool, a playful paddling pool of 600 m² and several water slides. Located in the Bidart hinterland, Le Ruisseau is an ideal base for discovering the Basque Country. Naturally starting with the enchanting seaside resort of Bidart. It is, together with its neighbours Biarritz, Anglet, Bayonne, Saint Jean de Luz and Hendaya, one of the many jewels of the Basque Coast.
There are many beaches on this coast, such as that of Bidart, 2.5 km from the Le Ruisseau campsite. The coast is also famous for its surf spots, so famous that this discipline is today rooted in the local culture, like the Basque Pelota, a sport practised in all the villages of the region.
In the Basque Country, every village is worth a visit, even if it is true that some are prettier than others, such as Espelette, Sare or Ainhoa. While walking through the streets of these villages, tourists can take in the Basque identity, just like the pilgrims do when they come through the village of Saint Jean Pied de Port on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
If these villages make the charm of the Basque Country, the Pyrenees mountains are also responsible for this enchantment. The first peak of this massif is the mountain pass of la Rhune, which can be climbed using a tourist train from Sare, at some 20 km from the campsite. The top of this pass offers tourists a magnificent panorama on the Basque Coast, when they don't choose a misty day to get there!
