A gift of nature with this Hérault campsite

You will be, first and foremost, won over by the comprehensive and original accommodation offering, proposed by this establishment rated 4 star. Those enthusiasts of traditional camping and caravanning, will find spacious and shaded pitches by the river, the typical Mediterranean scrubland or in the vineyards, whilst enthusiasts of stays combining countryside and luxury will not know where to look, so attractive is the offering of family accommodation.

Opt for luxury with the Cottage Nature or the Chalet Nature Home. Are you tempted by the Bohemian lifestyle? Give in to the appeal of the gipsy dwelling, and offer your family the chance to try life in a fully equipped caravan. Do you desire charm and refinement? Allow yourself to be tempted by the elegance of the timber and canvas of the “Cabane Vigneronne”, and its décor on the theme of vineyards and wine.

Maybe you will choose to cross a footbridge and follow a pedestrian pathway to your charming “Wine Cottage”, a chalet built in harmony with nature, having its terrace overlooking the vineyard, next to the campsite...Alternatively there is also a holiday cottage, lodges and chalets...plenty to meet your needs.

Now go and explore the water park, the natural swimming pool and its sunloungers. Unless, that is, you prefer the idyllic setting of the Hérault river, having its source in the Cévennes, with its gentle current and its pebbles.

Freedom, idleness and reconnecting with the countryside

Come and discover the activities on offer at the Domaine d’Anglas campsite. Once a week, Roger Gaussorgues, the owner of the campsite, but also a committed, passionate and fascinating wine grower, will share his story with you, during his “Wine tour”. You will discover his organic vineyard, his hundred-year-old wine store, and his wine cellar. You can then sample his organic wine without sulphites, accompanied by a plate of cheese on the terrace of the campsite’s restaurant, near Saint Guilhem le Désert.

Whilst on this subject, don’t delay in coming to have lunch or dinner as a family or with friends at “La Bergerie”, the restaurant on the campsite. There you can enjoy “in-house” cuisine, made from local produce, crispy pizzas, Cévennes hamburgers rated TOP 10 of the Occitanie region, gourmet salads, and other sweet treats. All of which is naturally washed down with the campsite’s organic Wine.

Moreover, if you prefer to eat in complete intimacy on your private terrace, you should know that the entire menu can be ordered as a takeaway. The restaurant also offers “Picnic” menus, to go on a hike or sweet or savoury breakfasts, or breakfast with a wide variety of fare (both sweet and savoury).

On site you are able to do pétanque, canoeing, canyoning or stand-up paddle boarding, or to quite simply enjoy the delights of fishing. Meanwhile children can have fun, in the two play areas set aside for them. On the menu are swings, a pirate ship, a rope bridge and a slide. However, there are also multi-sports fields, ping-pong tables, a football pitch and a volleyball court. You mustn’t overlook the children’s clubs from Monday to Friday during the summer, and their leisure activities, centred on the countryside.

You can also rent bicycles and have an excursion in the Hérault gorges, or quite simply do your shopping, in the neighbouring villages. Or put on your trainers or walking shoes, and start to explore the countryside. Some 6 kilometres of hiking paths, magnificent viewpoints over the Cévennes, and a breathtaking view over the medieval Brissac castle.

Go out and explore the gems of the Occitanie region

Experience a flight in a hang-glider or a paraglider. Try climbing or the Via Ferrata course. Enjoy the simple pleasures of biking or horse-riding. Explore the famous “Grotte des Demoiselles” cave, its giant stalagmites and stalactites, and unusual flowstone features.

Treat yourself to an interlude in one of the loveliest villages in France: the medieval village of Saint Guilhem le Désert, its Gellone Abbey, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its cloister and picturesque alleyways. Have a trip around the Cirque de Navacelles (an incised river meander) either on foot or by bike, also classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and contemplate the exceptional biodiversity of this site, nestling as it does at the heart of the Vis gorges.

A little further on, you can climb Mont Aigoual, the summit of the Cévennes, explore the Millau viaduct, swim in the Lac de Salagou lake, and admire the hills of red rocks which surround you. Enthusiasts of urban sightseeing are not overlooked: Montpellier is less than one hour’s drive from the campsite or even the town dubbed “French Rome”, the city of Nîmes; the arena - its Roman amphitheatre and the Maison Carrée (the world’s best preserved Roman temple). Lastly, you can visit the seaside resort of Palavas les Flots, or Le Grau du Roi, and dive into the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. One thing is for certain, you will return home won over by the charm and the conviviality of the Domaine d’Anglas and Occitanie.
