A royal stay in Anjou!
When the water retreated, the river transformed into a pond which took, of course, the name of pond of the breach (étang de la brèche). A few centuries later, in 1963, the property was purchased and transformed into a campsite. Since 50 years its quality has been considerably improved, transforming it into one of the most beautiful campsites in the Loire Valley.
235 green pitches and 85 rentals share the 24 acres of this campsite, covered with many hundred years old trees, allowing many shady areas. There is a wide range of accommodations, including modern and comfortable mobile homes, but also premium Key West homes, among the most luxurious of their kind. Superbly equipped, these brand new homes provide an incomparable and high-end comfort to guests.
Surfing on the glamping wave, which means offering tourists original and unusual accommodations, l'Etang de la Brèche has acquired several rentals of this type. Though being in the country of troglodytes, it is not yet possible to lodge underground... But we do find tree cabins, as well as trailers and traditional fishing huts.
Including a water park composed of a large outdoor pool, another indoor swimming pool, a paddling pool with water games for children and a pool with the water slide and three toboggans. Simply said, fun for young and old.
Adults may also enjoy an 18-holes golf course Pitch and Putt, while the kids have fun at the campsite's child's club, which also features a pony club, a multi sports ground, tennis courts and a karting circuit.
In the evening the meal can be taken in the on-site restaurant "La Grange", before joining the billiard room for wild games. Every night during high season the campsite proposes entertainment for young and old. Circus shows, disco parties, live concerts, there is something for everyone!
The campsite is only a few minutes from the town of Saumur by vehicle. In season, it is even possible to take the boat from the shores of the campsite to get to this city, whose fame rests on its castle, its wines and its famous Cadre Noir, a cavalry school and a body of French elite horse riders, recognized worldwide for their expertise.
The capital of the Anjou, Angers, is less than an hour's drive from l'Etang de la Brèche. Even if the castle of King René counts as one of the most impressive monuments of the Loire Valley, nowadays it is the amusement park of Terra Botanica that attracts the most tourists.
Finally, upstream of the campsite, the Touraine unveils its treasures, including the famous castles of Chinon, Amboise, Azay le Rideau, Ussé, Langeais and the beautiful Abbey of Fontevraud.
