Relaxation and wellness in the Purple Périgord
Although Le Moulin de Surier only has around 60 holiday rentals this is because, above all, it wishes to remain on a human scale. Here out of the blue luxury comprises space, along with the comfort and diversity of the accommodation! For example you can stay in unusual holiday rentals such as treetop cabins or safari tents, enjoying a superb view over the Lugassou, a stream which upon reaching the campsite widens forming a bucolic lake. You can also stay in “Rêve” or “Moorea” timber chalets or “Atlante” or “Pacific” mobile homes, for an even more high-end stay!
On-site, a large swimming pool, with paddling pool suitable for the very young awaits you, as well as a bar and sunbathing area, to make the most of the sunshine. To ring the changes, you can head for the sandy beach running alongside the lake. In this idyllic setting, children can indulge in building sandcastles, whilst older ones may play beach volleyball and hire stand up paddle boards, pedalos and canoes…
Children can walk around safely on this car-free campsite, and every afternoon go the mini club, where activity leaders offer those aged 4 to 12, the chance to take part in a multitude of recreational and sports activities. They can also play in the playground and go on the trampoline. Teens meet up for board games, sports tournaments and evening gatherings.

The Dordogne department is divided into four areas: the Purple Périgord (with numerous vineyards), Green Périgord (having forests), White Périgord (comprising limestone cliffs) and Black Perigord (consisting of dark oak forests). Just a stone throw from Le Moulin de Surier, discover the Beaumont du Perigord walled town with the fortified church and covered market. This English walled town was built in the 13th century. A little further on, you can admire the Saint-Avit-Sénieur abbey, located in Saint-Avit-Sénieur, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Make the most of your stay in the Dordogne to visit Bergerac, a town with the Ville d'Art et d’Histoire designation, owing to a rich and varied architectural and wine-producing heritage. Admire the timber-framed houses, stroll around the old harbour, in the Quai Cyrano wine and culture centre and sample the Bergerac and Duras wines. On high ground, perched on a delightful hill, the wine-growing village of Monbazillac, world-renowned for its syrupy wine also awaits you.
Lastly, walk around Sarlat-la-Canéda, a genuine medieval gem and the capital of the Black Périgord. Stroll on the Place de la Liberté square, discover the Saint-Sacerdos cathedral with Gothic architecture and visit the house where Etienne de la Boétie (a French writer and poet) was born. In addition stock up on local products and produce: foie gras (duck or goose liver speciality), black truffles, confits (preserved meats), magrets (duck breast), rillettes (duck potted meat), saucissons (dry pork sausages), cheeses, nuts and local wines. During the summer season, evening markets and medieval festivals take place in numerous villages within the region.
