Les Ventoulines, a camping village on a human scale in the Dordogne
A holiday village favourable to relaxation and idleness, ideal to use as a base for touring around a region where the smallest village conceals a multitude of tourist curiosities, Les Ventoulines, in Domme within the Périgord Noir, is a genuine love affair. An establishment on a human scale which has moved upmarket with the passing seasons, it now has luxury holiday rentals and a delightful aquatic area.
A unique location favouring relaxation...
Located on the heights of Cénac et Saint Julien, this establishment is less than 4 kilometres from the centre of Domme. A former medieval walled town, which is today a member of the association of Plus Beaux Villages de France (“The most beautiful villages in France”), Domme is a fortified village, the ramparts of which dominate the Dordogne river. This hollows through the Périgord, a valley nowadays classified as a Pays d’Art et d’Histoire (meaning that the heritage of the area’s landscape is preserved and its profile increased locally), heaven for lovers of old stones, prehistory buffs but also canoeists. The descent of the Dordogne river by canoe is one of the region’s leading tourist activities.
The holiday village occupies a wooded campsite, where peace and tranquillity reign. Perfect for holidaymakers wishing to rest and relax during their stay, it also has top-of-the-range facilities, such as a heated infinity swimming pool, an indoor pool heated throughout the year and even a well-being space with a sauna and a Nordic bath. A campsite on a human scale comprised solely of holiday rentals, Les Ventoulines appeals as much to parents, whose children can caper entirely freely and safely within the park as to young and retired couples, who enjoy the friendliness of the campsite and its team.
The human side is a vital element of this establishment. Its team, for example, are in the habit of knowing and calling by their first name all holidaymakers on the site after only a few days of them staying with us! There are never more than around one hundred holidaymakers staying on the campsite during the high season and all share the same family, friendly and warm holiday spirit which is characteristic of the site. The respect for others is vital there and the atmosphere favours exchanges between holidaymakers.
The luxury of authenticity...
The holiday rental offer at Les Ventoulines comprises 3 types of accommodation. One consists of 2 types of traditional wooden chalets, able to accommodate 5 to 6 people. The second comprises the latest generation of top-of-the-range Key West mobile homes, with air conditioning, a dishwasher, a king size double bed and other facilities for 4 to 5 people. Finally the last type takes the form of a wooden chalet particularly adapted for persons of reduced mobility (accommodating a maximum of 4).
The location of the chalets does not enable opportunities for bumping into other campers, favouring the intimacy and tranquillity of their occupants. All accommodation nestles in the greenery and holidaymakers who wish to can meet up and share a nice meal at the restaurant on the campsite. Its terrace is one of the most beautiful belvederes of the Périgord It offers a panoramic view over the Dordogne Valley and walled town of Domme of which the walls, opposite the village, take on sublime colours at sunset…
The restaurant of Les Ventoulines offers a bakery service every morning (you must reserve your fresh bread and your sweetbreads and buns such as brioches, croissants and pains au chocolate, the previous day before 5 p.m.) as well as a delicatessen service every evening.
The aquatic area, is made up of an indoor heated swimming pool, which can become outdoor in summer, an outdoor heated infinity pool, a paddling pool for the very young, as well as a well-being space with a sauna and whirlpool bath accessible from a large terrace overlooking the magnificent Dordogne valley…
Holidays within the so-called ‘golden triangle’ - Domme - Beynac - Castelnaud la Chapelle...
Capital of the Périgord Noir, Sarlat la Canéda is 10 minutes from this holiday village in the Dordogne. Moreover the campsite enjoys one of the most advantageous locations, as it is at the heart of the golden triangle, which makes up the villages of Domme, Beynac and Castelnaud la Chapelle. As with La Roque Gageac, Les Milandes and Marqueyssac, all of these villages must be visited when staying at Les Ventoulines. The streets and alleyways tell the story of an exceptional region where there are dozens of châteaux and walled towns.
Available, generous and passionate about the area, the campsite team are more than happy to advise holidaymakers. This includes tourist visits, gastronomic outings, areas for river swimming, roads running parallel enabling the avoidance of major roads that are congested during the high season and free parking. No secret or excellent idea escapes them!
Moreover, this same team is dedicated daily to the success of your stay, and organises a multitude of activities, as much on site as off site. Canoe trips are thus regularly planned, as well as visits to evening markets, cooking workshops for children and other activities. Everyone can make the most of these activities to have a good time and discover the most magical places in the Dordogne…
Lastly, several pedestrian footpaths and cycle paths pass close to the campsite. There is nothing better than a walk or a cycle ride with your loved ones to get some fresh air!
