La Châtaigneraie - a 4 star campsite in the heart of the Périgord Noir
Only 9 kilometres from Sarlat la Canéda, the capital of the Périgord Noir area, the town of Prats de Carlux is home to the La Châtaigneraie campsite. A member of the Vagues Océanes group, this establishment rated 4 star extends over wooded and lush grounds of 9 hectares, perfect for rest, relaxation and fun with the large water park and numerous leisure facilities.
An ideal setting for a family holiday
The La Châtaigneraie campsite accommodates you in lush 9 hectare grounds located near Sarlat, between the Lot and Dordogne departments. The entirely wooded campsite offers both camping and caravanning pitches and holiday rentals. The former have a surface area of 90 m² on average. They have a water point, electrical connection and, for those who express a requirement for it, a fridge. Please note that this is booked in advance (as an optional extra), enabling the campsite team to install it in advance, so it is working from holidaymakers’ arrival!
For even greater comfort, you can put down your bags in one of the holiday rentals on-site. Depending upon their layout, these can accommodate between 2 to 10 people! Large families or groups are welcome on this campsite, as there are mobile homes with a large capacity or even modular mobile homes, linked by a large terrace.
Holidaymakers travelling with children can opt for the Moussaillon Top Presta holiday rental, which has a play room. Lovers of out-of-the-ordinary accommodation can choose between Coco Sweet tents or Safari Lodges, in canvas and timber.
A dream water park in the Dordogne
The La Châtaigneraie water park will delight children and adults alike, with its numerous heated pools, water playground and multiple water slides including the amazing “Spacebowl” and “Boat Slide”, to open from the beginning of July 2023. Moreover, two paddling pools enable the very young to make the most of the delights of water. Whilst children and teens have fun sliding down the water slides as fast as possible, parents can bask in the Jacuzzi.
Moreover, in July and August, a mini club welcomes young holidaymakers aged 4 to 12. To have fun during their stay on this Périgord Noir campsite, they can also make the most of the zip line, playground, ping-pong tables and mini golf course on-site. Lastly, they can also take part in convivial evenings, organized by activity leaders twice a week during summer.
Amongst the other leisure facilities on this outdoor establishment, note the tennis court, fitness area, pétanque courts and a billiards table. In the high season, a grocery enables anyone needing to shop to do so without leaving the campsite. An ice-cream seller, bar, launderette and Wi-Fi coverage complete the range of services offered on this establishment.
The Dordogne, a perfect destination for an unforgettable holiday
The Périgord Noir is known for its breathtaking landscapes, caves, chasms and character villages. Not forgetting its historic buildings, local produce markets and gastronomy. The charming medieval town of Sarlat la Canéda is only 9 kilometres from the campsite. It is one of the loveliest towns in France with no fewer than 66 listed and protected buildings.
Having strolled through its cobbled streets and admired the Sainte Marie church, redesigned by the architect Jean Nouvel, you succumb to its gourmet delights: foie gras, Rocamadour goat’s cheese, truffles and various gâteaux aux noix.(walnut cakes). During your stay, you can also be filled with wonder at the cave paintings in the Lascaux cave.
Outdoor activity enthusiasts are not left out in this region either. Cycle rides or canoeing on the Dordogne or Vézère rivers, Via Ferrata and swimming in the rivers.
