Pétanque competitions, sports activities and pool games are regularly organized in the daytime. Around the campsite, several footpaths offer the opportunity for walks or cycle rides. The town of Sarlat la Canéda is renowned for its preserved architectural heritage, dating back to medieval times and the Renaissance. The town is a genuine paradise for lovers of history and gastronomy. Stroll through the delightful alleyways, visit the town hall, Order of Notre Dame convent or one of the 66 listed buildings, and stock up on local produce and products in the market stalls whose reputation has, for a long time, gone way beyond the region!
In Montignac, the Lascaux caves and their prehistoric cave paintings have been awaiting you for around 17,000 years! Discovered in 1940, they are now protected to ensure they remain preserved, but you’ll discover the impressive frescoes depicting animals and humans within Lascaux IV, the replica at the Centre International de l'Art Pariétal Montignac-Lascaux (Centre for International Cave Art).
Beynac castle, perched on a cliff, offers a spectacular view over the Dordogne river. There is no shortage of charm inside the keep, guardroom and Renaissance staircase. On the other side of the river, the Castelnaud la Chapelle castle houses a Musée de la Guerre au Moyen-âge (Museum of War in the Middle Ages), with a collection of weapons and armour. Finally, equally don’t delay in going to the medieval town of Domme, and the magnificent troglodyte village of La Roque Gageac, with the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” (most beautiful villages in France) designation.
