This tourist country, which revolves around the Vézère and the Dordogne valleys, East of the Dordogne Department, is one of the richest in historical, cultural and culinary heritage in the South-West of France. The best example of this is the capital of the Black Perigord, Sarlat la Canéda. Nicknamed the jewel of the Middle Ages, Sarlat counts as one of the most beautiful villages of France, with its Cathedral, its former Bishop's Palace but also and especially its medieval timber-framed houses and cobbled streets. Thanks to its legendary beauty it has hosted many film shootings, and Sarlat now has its own film festival. As for the gastronomy, you can enjoy delicious local produce; starting with foie gras, the truffle, cèpes mushrooms, walnuts and chestnuts and other delights.
