A dream holiday on the most beautiful campsite in Brittany
Welcome to Les Ormes, one of the most prestigious 5 star campsites in Western France (known locally as the ‘Grand-Ouest’). Nestling between Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel, this 200 hectare green setting offers you a unique experience, combining nature, comfort and luxury. In the past a farm, the site has been able to develop with flair, to become an exceptional destination. A member of the Les Castels group, this campsite combines style, authenticity and exclusive services.
Accommodation blending into the countryside
The history of the Domaine des Ormes campsite goes way back, well before 1977, the year the campsite opened. From the Middle Ages, the location served as a residence for the bishops of Dol, who built a small castle here within a 250-hectare estate.
After the French Revolution, the bishops were forced to leave. The Domaine des Ormes then passed into the hands of various owners. At the beginning of the last century, it was transformed into a farm, the castle outbuildings being used for various farm buildings.
After several transformations and investments, the Domaine des Ormes is now considered one of the most beautiful campsites in France. The evidence is that the establishment monopolises a great deal of camping and caravanning awards. Staying on Les Ormes means fully immersing yourself in a green setting. The variety of accommodation has been designed to blend into the surroundings. You can choose from stylish ‘Made by Les Ormes’ cottages (timber chalets, not found elsewhere with an exclusive design, built using natural materials) and lodges with authentic charm (spacious tents with an air of adventure, with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and comfortable bedrooms). There are also modern and comfortable mobile homes (within the following ranges: Premium, Palm Beach or high-end luxury TAOS – our newest model), combining practicality and wellness. In addition, there are apartments just like home (fully equipped with private balconies, so you feel at home whilst making the most of the campsite facilities). You have the Sweet Homes (wooded nests, practical and convivial with an outdoor terrace) and the ‘Camping’Huttes’ (themed cabins on stilts, blending the out-of-the-ordinary with comfort). Finally, you can select spacious camping pitches (with between 100 and 150 m² of freedom, to set up your caravan or tent in the heart of nature).
Leisure heaven for the entire family
Les Ormes owes its reputation to the quality of the accommodation and abundance of facilities and services in equal measure. The Dôme, an aquatic gem on the campsite, transports you to the tropics with the waves, pools and fast-flowing lazy river. For lovers of leisure and invigorating water slides, thrills are guaranteed! A second outdoor heated aquatic park awaits young and old alike, having a landscaped lagoon, with games and water slides. For a more tranquil swim, other swimming pools are spread over the campsite, including one near the Club House restaurant and another opposite the 3-star hotel on Les Ormes.
Explore a wide range of leisure facilities during your stay; treetop adventure and zip lines, cable skiiing, golf, riding school, climbing wall, etc. Hire pedalos for an interlude on the water or bikes to discover Les Ormes as you should! Each day, the kids club and family club offer a multitude of recreational activities, supervised by an enthusiastic team of activity leaders. Depending on the season, various activities punctuate your holiday. There are creative workshops, sports challenges, puzzle hunts, guided walks, etc. Every summer, don’t miss the Big Show, an impressive weekly show which brings together young and old alike for a magical, unforgettable time! In addition, make the most of evening events such as concerts, karaoke nights or even firework displays.
A holiday on Les Ormes, also a taste sensation! The campsite urges you to have a gourmet journey; from the refined brasserie at the Club House to the friendly atmosphere in the Chez Madeleine pizzeria, to the retro surroundings of Brasserie 1977. A grocery, ice cream shop and bars complete this varied offer.
In the heart of Les Ormes, the Amiral building, with facades typical of the region, houses a multitude of facilities. These include a grocery, shop selling souvenirs and local provisions, bakery, pastry and sandwich shop, restaurant and 500 m² seminar room with a private rooftop!
A perfect situation between Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel
The Domaine des Ormes campsite is located in the commune of Epiniac, a modest village to the south of Dol de Bretagne. This medieval village, still dominated by one of the oldest cathedrals of France, is located at equal distance from Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel, the two major tourist sites in the North of the Ille et Vilaine region.
Saint Malo, privateers and trading port, is surrounded by high city walls having resisted multiple English attacks. Behind the walls you find many restaurants and creperies, and its castle houses the city's Museum of History and of Pays Malouin. Around the city centre, forts and fortifications continue to bear the assault of the waves. At low tide, you can walk to some of these.
On the other side of the Rance estuary, Dinard is one of the most famous beach resorts of the Breton coastline, coastline which name changes into the Emerald Coast between Saint Malo and Mont Saint Michel. This wonder of humanity is located less than 40 miles from le Domaine des Ormes. Every year, millions of tourists and pilgrims climb the cobblestone streets of this medieval city to reach the summit of the Mont and its Abbey. Up there, you'll have a splendid view on one of the most beautiful bays of the world!
