Park Mara, a balcony over the Mediterranean in Borgio Verezzi
It is in the magnificent village of Borgio Verezzi, in the heart of the Italian Riviera within the Province of Savona, that you discover the Park Mara campsite. Laid out in terraces on the hillside, opposite the turquoise waters of the Ligurian Sea, it is the perfect place for a family holiday, in the middle of nowhere in the Italian sunshine.
A campsite on the mountainside and opposite the sea
This family establishment on a human scale, stretches over the lush hills in the shade of carob, olive and orange trees. You will be able to camp or hire a mobile home adapted to your needs and your budget. There is the bungalow without a bathroom, to live in the open air, as close as possible to nature, and also the Iris or Maddalena mobile homes, fully equipped with a terrace and a private sunbathing area, with a view over the Ligurian Sea. There is even the Oléandro bungalow, the most luxurious bungalow on the site, notably with a private Jacuzzi on its terrace.
Once settled in, you dive head first into the swimming pool of this Borgio Verezzi campsite, savour your first few minutes of holiday, by relaxing in the Jacuzzi of the water park, or you could get down to working on your summer tan, on one of the sunloungers on the sunbathing area. Do you have hunger pangs? The swimming pool snack bar will serve you a famous Italian cappuccino, sweet or savoury snack, ice-cream snack or cocktail as an apéritif.
Open nearly all year (from March to January), Mara Park offers additional services in the high season. An activity team will take care of your children, and will offer them sports or recreational activities and musical shows, to liven up your evenings. The beach is only 400 metres from the campsite. You can go on foot or make the most of the shuttle bus, which will drop you off for free in the warmest months of the year.
Sports and recreational holidays as a family or with friends
Liguria is a crescent-shaped region, located in the north-west of Italy. Its Mediterranean coast is known by the name of the Italian Riviera, and it is in this green setting that you can indulge in your preferred sports activity. The region offers numerous rock faces equipped to practice climbing, in particular between Toirano and Finale Ligure.
You will be able to go all over the many hiking trails around the campsite. If you like to shudder and let off steam, do mountain biking in the middle of nowhere and go off to explore the treasures of the Province of Savona. On returning from your sports expeditions, sunbathe on the charming Varigotti Beach lined with colourful houses, or admire the high rock faces of the Baia dei Saraceni (Saraceni Bay).
Enthusiasts of nautical activities are also provided for, with sailing and surfing lessons on offer at the Loano marina. At the diving centre, you will be able to admire the wonders of the seabed, book an excursion to go and see the whales and see your children marvel at these giant mammals.
Spellbound by the gems of the Italian Riviera
Are you wondering what to visit in Liguria? You should know that the village of Borgio Verezzi, where the Park Mara campsite is located, has been a member of the “Most Beautiful Towns and Villages in Italy” group (I Borghi Più Belli d’Italia). Also know that it is also one of the “Pearls of Liguria”. The tone having been set, here are some ideas. Start by visiting the seaside resort of Borgio, then the medieval village and historic buildings of Verezzi on the Opera hill.
Go underground to admire the colourful stalactites and the underground lakes of the Valdemino or Toirano caves. Discover the hamlet of Finalborgo, this medieval fortified small village and its buildings with architecture typical of the Renaissance. Visit the Glass Art Museum in Altare (Museo dell'Arte Vetraria Altarese), and discover the ancestral techniques for working glass in a magnificent liberty-style villa.
Visit the port city of Genoa, its colourful houses and its San Lorenzo cathedral, whose façade is striped in black and white. Lastly, offer your children a fun themed day at the “Le Caravelle” water park: the water slides, wave pools and the various rapids of the Rio Bravo will soon no longer hold any secrets for them.
