A revitalizing glamping stay by the Tyrrhenian Sea
Glamping is a combination of the words “glamour” and ”camping”. The Glamping Lodges and Out-of-the-ordinary Cabins on the Terre di Sacra, located just a stone’s throw from the beach, offer you the unique possibility of spending your next holiday in the great outdoors by the sea, and all without giving up on comfort and quality. Lodges are large canvas tents mounted on platforms with running water, electricity and ventilation, which offer all the modern comforts necessary, and are immersed in a beautiful natural landscape, amidst the dunes and vegetation typical of the sandy soils.
Choose from 4 types of lodge: STANDARD located around 100 metres from the sea, and able to accommodate up to 4 people or even the SUPERIOR, DELUXE and PREMIUM lodges. Inspired by African safari tents, they are furnished in a functional and well-lit style and have a fully equipped kitchen, bathrooms, showers and warm and cold air conditioning. The Lodge tents vary in size, in the number of available bunks and as to their pitches: whether on the dune, sea view or by the sea. You’re also able to stay in new cabins, private suites immersed in the Maremma pine forests.
If you don’t fancy cooking, treat yourself to a delicious pizza at the campsite restaurant, or go to the beach to enjoy the wonderful dishes at the “La Dogana” beach club. You can take your time on the restaurant terrace, whilst children play in the play area set aside for them. You can also have lunch on the beach, with colourful picnic baskets and picnic meal baskets prepared in the kitchen managed by Enoteca La Torre.
A perfect holiday resort to reconnect with nature in the Tuscan sunshine
Opposite the Terre di Sacra Glamping campsite, kilometres of beach and crystal-clear sea stretch amongst the dunes and Mediterranean scrub. The fine sand is perfect for a siesta in the sunshine, listening to the sound of the waves over the Tyrrhenian Sea. The sea only becomes deep a few dozen metres from the shore: children can build sandcastles and play entirely safely on the shore. For even more comfort, you can book a parasol at the Dogana Beach Club, a campsite partner.
If you wish to explore the region, hire electric bikes on-site and go off to explore the neighbouring sanctuary, Lake Burano Oasis, the first such WWF oasis in Italy. Admire the flora, fauna and animals migrating through the reserve. At the centre of this oasis, staff take care of tortoises, storks, and other migratory species needing help. This area is a fascinating place for nature lovers and perfect to raise children’s awareness of respecting ecosystems and animal habits.
Horse-riding, sailing and water-sports enthusiasts can book excursions with a charge, leaving from the Glamping Terre di Sacra campsite, returning at the end of the day. Those keen on tennis, can book the tennis court, to hit a few balls, and the more adventurous can try kitesurfing at the Dogana water sports centre. Don’t forget to go to Lake Burano: a lake amongst dunes and sand surrounded by dense vegetation of bulrushes and reeds. An ideal habitat for birds and animals looking to shelter or hide.
The splendour and wonders of Tuscany
A stone’s throw from the Terre di Sacra campsite, the WWF oasis of Lake Burano and the neighbouring Orbetello lagoon, with their white and grey herons, ospreys, northern shovelers and wonderful pink flamingos, enjoy a great naturalist charm, a symbol of national pride on a global scale.
Also in Orbetello be sure to visit the Acquario della Laguna di Orbetello (Orbetello lagoon aquarium) and the CRTM Talamone, a sea turtle rescue centre. You’ll fall in love with Capalbio, a romantic village on the southern coast of Tuscany. The village, located on the summit of a hill, has grown up around the castle built in the 8th century by the Aldobrandeschi family. The first thing you see is the Rocca Aldobrandesca, located at the summit of the village and comprising a square tower and elegant building built of local stone. Then lose yourself in the alleyways and visit the old walls of the village.
