Le Domaine de Massereau, first 5-star campsite of France!
Located in Sommières, a famous town in the Gard, 27 kilometres from Nîmes and 28 kilometres from Montpellier, and in the heart of one of the most famous vineyards of the region, the Domaine de Massereau was the first campsite in France to be awarded a 5th star. This establishment is the perfect place for a highly colourful holiday which is rich in flavours under the Languedoc Roussillon sunshine…
A luxury campsite
Besides the quality of its wines, history tells us that the Domaine de Massereau was the first campsite in France to be rated 5 star And the least we can say is that this distinction is amply deserved. This high-end outdoor establishment offers indeed many assets, starting with quality rental accommodations and beautifully implanted pitches for campers.
These wooded and spacious pitches, with some enjoying a surface area approaching 200 m², can also be accompanied with a “Premium” option, including a fridge, a plancha/barbecue, a storage box, sunloungers, a table and wooden benches and even unlimited Wi-Fi access on the pitch.
Among the many rental accommodations of this luxury campsite in the Gard, there are huts and wooden chalets, to be closer to nature, but also a range of modern, comfortable and perfectly equipped high quality mobile homes.
The most luxurious mobile homes are part of the "Héritage" range. Available in different versions with two or three air conditioned bedrooms, these high-end rentals can accommodate up to six people. Installed on pitches with a surface of 150 m², they have a terrace, wooden garden furniture, sun loungers and a barbecue/ plancha (optional).
Le Domaine de Massereau also boasts a restaurant offering campers the opportunity to taste many Mediterranean specialities, under a wooden pergola. What is better to enrich these delicious dishes, than a good bottle of locally produced wine!
At the heart of a vineyard
This 5-star campsite in the Gard offers a beautiful water park, surrounded by large artificial beaches, shaded here and there by straw-hut arbours. The area consists of a large outdoor pool with two giant water slides, an open-air paddling pool with water games for children’s fun and entertainment, as well as a large heated indoor swimming pool open from April to October. In 2020, the water park was also equipped with a balneotherapy area with a heated pool and and a Jacuzzi, hydromassage water jets. sunbathing area, etc.
Adults wishing to completely relax can go to the spa and wellness facilities on the Domaine de Massereau campsite. A genuine temple of relaxation, it has a hammam, a sauna and a Jacuzzi. The establishment also offers massage sessions under the large oak trees of the property.
At the edge of the Massereau Forest and near the banks of the Vidourle River, the campsite's adventure park counts as one of the major attractions in the region. Here, you can bask in the sun on a private beach, go canoeing or stand-up paddle boarding on the river, or even have fun in the treetop adventure park that crosses the grounds. With 17 different courses, a total of 220 platforms in the trees and 50 Tyrolean traverse courses, it is one of the largest parks of its kind in the south of France!
Finally, please note that three times a week, there's a guided visit for wine lovers of the property, the facilities and the vineyards... A visit which obviously ends with the traditional wine-tasting session...
Halfway between Nîmes and Montpellier
Located in the Gard, between Montpellier and Nîmes, the Domaine de Massereau enjoys an ideal location for anyone wishing to discover the department and, more widely, the Languedoc Roussillon region.
The city of Nîmes, at 27 km from the campsite, is a must-see for art and history lovers staying in the region. Its numerous remains from the Gallo-Roman era are indeed worth a visit, just like its arenas, its Maison Carré, its temple of Diane, its tour Magne or its door of Auguste.
Just as important as in Nîmes, the historical heritage of the Department offers many treasures, such as the famous Pont du Gard, the most famous Roman aqueduct in France, or the medieval city of Aigues Mortes, located near the beach resort of le Grau du Roi and the Mediterranean Sea.
The regional capital Montpellier lies 28 kilometres from le Domaine de Massereau. The gateway to the beaches of the Roussillon, it is also a strategic crossroads for those who wish to discover the tourist attractions of the Hérault, from the village of Minerve to the Grand Site du Cirque de Navacelles (an incised meander)...
