Discover the Thau lagoon and Mèze’s surrounding area
The Côte d'Améthyste refers to part of the coast of Occitanie, from Argelès sur Mer up to Le Grau du Roi, including Canet en Roussillon, Gruissan, Cap d'Agde, Sète and La Grande Motte. From the Beau Rivage campsite, you can easily reach Mèze, a small charming authentic town nestling amongst Mediterranean scrubland, vineyards and the Thau lagoon. It will entice you with the port, small shops and shellfish farms.
The Etang de Thau is a genuine inland sea, separated from the Mediterranean by a fine sand dune: the Lido. It has exceptional ecological diversity, enabling a multitude of shellfish, clams, sea urchins, and various sea bream to thrive undisturbed. Your stay on the Beau Rivage campsite will also prove the opportunity to visit Sète. A town amongst the sea, canals, fishing ports and marinas, where houses with colourful facades run alongside, rightly dubbed the “Venice of the Languedoc”.
The villages in the area around the Thau lagoon are also worth seeing: Frontignan, with protected beaches and contrasting landscapes
