A luxury campsite in Argelès sur Mer
Although numerous campsites have been established in Argelès sur Mer, rare are those with facilities and services as high-end as the L’Hippocampe campsite. We should mention that this campsite is amongst one of the best French open-air hotels. Each year, holidaymakers who go there are guaranteed an excellent stay. Families feel good there and there is a multitude of possibilities for entertainment on offer to adults and children alike.
L’Hippocampe stretches over wooded and lush grounds, one kilometre from the beach. On foot, it takes barely a quarter of an hour to reach it. It is even quicker for cyclists to take the cycle track. Opposite the campsite, we find the 5 star La Sirène campsite. Belonging to the same group, La Sirène makes available, to holidaymakers at the L’Hippocampe wearing the bracelet “Pass-Loisirs” (“Leisure Pass”), the use of its activities and facilities for free. Although the La Sirène campsite is acknowledged for its hyper-dynamism, L’Hippocampe is more peaceful and restful.
An initiative which enables the guarantee of tranquillity for the location but also offers additional safety for parents whose children have absolute freedom to run around. A luxury campsite with a human dimension, it has an offer made up uniquely of holiday rental accommodation, so that everyone can enjoy the maximum luxury available. In total, 5 ranges of mobile homes have been established here. Able to house 4 to 6 people, they are perfect for accommodating the entire family!
A haven of freshness just a stone’s throw from the seaside
On-site, holidaymakers can make the most of a multitude of services. In July and August, a petit train (“small train”) guarantees the link between the campsite and the beach at Argelès sur Mer. There are 2 trips scheduled for the morning and 3 during the afternoon. The Wi-Fi network covers all of the campsite and reception is open 7 days a week. It is worth noting that a bar - restaurant, the “Bambou”, enables holidaymakers to relax around a cocktail or a dish with Asian flavours, in an air-conditioned restaurant. It also offer a takeaway service.
As holidaymakers at La Sirène and L’Hippocampe can make the most of the services on both campsites, it is thus enough to cross the road to access a grocery, a hot food area, two restaurants and an ice cream seller. There is also a bar, a pub, a general store, a takeaway service, a shop selling clothes and beach items, a nightclub and other facilities.
As with the services, the sports and recreational facilities on each campsite are also shared. Although La Sirène has facilities which are, at the very least exceptional, and notably one of the loveliest aquatic parks in France, L’Hippocampe is in no way left out and also has a perfectly planned aquatic complex. This nestles within a tropical environment, dominated by palm trees and one of the most exotic forms of vegetation imaginable.
A 5-star aquatic park and sports facilities
A genuine haven of freshness, it is in this heavenly world that holidaymakers can make the most of an entirely heated lagoon with an area of 380 m². Moreover, this lagoon with various depths has waterfalls, a Jacuzzi, water slides and a section set aside for children with a sprinkler mushroom, water jets and similar games. It is a perfect facility to introduce the very young to water facilities!
Amongst the other facilities present on L’Hippocampe, the “Sportippo” takes the form of a “stage” entirely set aside for playing sports. It has a city stadium, 2 football pitches, a beach stadium, a beach volleyball court, a pétanque court, ping pong tables and other facilities. Accessible to all, this facility accommodates numerous sports activities organised by the team of activity leaders on the campsite. These are intended as much for adults as children.
Many other activities and forms of entertainment are offered to holidaymakers on the L’Hippocampe campsite: aquaerobics and aquabike (use of an exercise bike in a swimming pool) sessions, fitness and Zumba classes, varied and wild evenings with musical comedies, concerts, games, karaoke nights, a DJ set and other such activities and events. Moreover, parents can put their children’s names down at the mini-club. Activities and play workshops are offered by activity leaders within a chalet specially fitted out having an area of 80 m², as well as in the open air.
