Between Collioure and Argelès

Steep cliffs and little coves of pebble stones or fine sand compose indeed this exceptional beautiful coastline, a wild coast called 'Vermeille' extending from Racou to the Spanish border (the city of Portbou is located only 30 kilometres further South).
Collioure, at 5 kilometres from Le Bois de Valmarie, boasts an important historical heritage, with its royal castle, its fortified church and its Fort Saint Elmo. The beauty of this small village by the sea has always made it a favourite stop, and notably has been frequented by many artists, like Picasso, Dali and Matisse.
