This establishment in Argelès sur Mer is one of those rare campsites in France to have a genuine 1,000 m² tropical lagoon, with white sands and straw parasols running alongside. The gradual increase in depth make this a perfect swimming spot for children. Right nearby, there is a lovely cocktail bar, to cool down in the shade within a perfect setting.
You’ll also find a 150 m² heated swimming pool, for swimming but also to do aquaerobics, aquafitness and aqua Zumba. Water polo matches regularly take place here. For sports, you can have step classes or take part in a muscle stretching session, before starting a pétanque, ping-pong or football tournament.
The campsite children’s club accommodates young holidaymakers aged 6 to 12. The campsite is 20 minutes’ walk from the Argelès sur Mer beaches. The lovely Le Racou beach, with small white houses which appear to be placed on the sand, having a family atmosphere, is one of the most authentic on this renowned Pyrénées Orientales seaside resort. A little further on heading towards Spain, the town of Collioure, the gem of the Côte Vermeille coast has a pebble and sandy beach located at the foot of the well-known castle. It is particularly sought-after for the view over the Notre-Dame-des-Anges church!

Whilst staying on the Le Lagon d’Argelès campsite, lovers of wide open spaces can go to the Pyrénées Catalanes Regional Nature Park, where wonderful hikes through the famous Massif du Canigó trail, the Catalans’ sacred mountain, await them. Also why not visit the Château de Valmy chateau in Argelès-sur-Mer, which offers a breathtaking view over the Pyrenees and Mediterranean.
You can also walk round Banyuls-sur-Mer, the native town of the sculptor Aristide Maillol, and visit the museum devoted to him. Stroll around the delightful marina and take the vineyard tourist train, before sitting down at a table on a terrace to enjoy a glass of local wine. Those keen on the history of mankind are able to visit the Tautavel prehistoric site, and discover human remains dating back to more than 500,000 years ago!
Lastly be sure to visit Perpignan and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca (Palais des Rois de Majorque) overlooking the city, as well as the festivals and markets and historic centre.
