A luxury campsite 600 metres from the beach and Mediterranean
Amidst lush vegetation, 600 metres from the beach in Torreilles (Torreilles Plage), a renowned seaside resort on the coast of the Pyrénées Orientales, this exceptional campsite is located. The 14-hectare grounds, magnificently wooded, in bloom and well kept, have been laid out to accommodate 450 pitches, including one section now occupied by modern and comfortable holiday rentals.
Spacious, the pitches intended for those who are campers strictly speaking, have an average surface area of 80 m² or more. Separated by oleander hedges, they are laid to lawn and shaded by the many trees that dot the property. A small extra comfort, all the pitches have an electricity supply, some even having a drinking water tap.
The holiday rentals on this 4-star campsite in the Pyrenees Orientales take the form of cottages, chalets and Coco Sweet tents. The most luxurious cottages are located in the Premium district. They can accommodate up to eight people and have a private spa. With a surface area of 40 m², they are equipped with a living area, fully-fitted kitchen, 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, two separate WCs and covered terrace with garden furniture set.
Just like the accommodation and camping pitches, the services offered by this outdoor establishment are also of high quality. The Les Tropiques bar restaurant area proves this, incorporating typical Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine on the menu, offering various dishes with a lovely smell of thyme and rosemary... A snack bar with takeaway service is also available on-site. An ice cream seller and grocery are amongst the other shops on this Torreilles campsite.
A giant water park
Yet the real attraction of Les Tropiques, to which numerous holidaymakers to give in, is the water park with huge dimensions. In total, 3,000 m² is set aside for swimming, relaxing and fun. Moreover, holidaymakers can make the most of the multi-sport ground, tennis court, outdoor fitness area, ping-pong tables and pétanque courts. Although all these facilities appear to be aimed at adults and teenagers, for all that, children are not forgotten on this establishment. Inflatable games, playgrounds and various mini clubs are here for their enjoyment, to keep them amused during their stay on this exceptional campsite in the Pays Catalan (Catalan Country).
Torreilles Plage, a seaside resort in Catalan Country
Staying on the Les Tropiques campsite, is the chance to explore a substantial part of the Pays Catalan region, or at least the French part of it. As although the famous Spanish province of Catalonia is actually located on the other side of the Pyrénées, throughout history the Catalan culture and spirit have been widespread and also reached the French side of the border, within the department which nowadays takes the name Pyrenees Orientales.
Its capital, Perpignan, lies in fact less than 20 kilometres from the campsite Les Tropiques. Here, we find an important historical and cultural heritage, like the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, the Loge de Mer or the Castillet.
A large part of the coastline of the Pyrenees Orientales is similar to the coast in Torreilles, namely a succession of sandy beaches sprinkled with sun and swept by the Tramontane winds (thus favouring the practice of many water sports), but the southern part of the department, known as the Côte Vermeille, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful coasts of the Languedoc Roussillon. Here we find a great wild coast, with cliffs, rocks and pebble coves, but there are also great towns and fishing villages. Cerbère, Banyuls or Port Vendres for example.
Yet, it is the town of Collioure that gets all the votes. Located at 40 minutes from the campsite Les Tropiques by car, this town has charmed the greatest artists, painters, poets and sculptors, like Picasso, Matisse and Signac...
