This lush establishment, open from March to October, has a unique feature in maintaining a dry lawn, enabling the growth of 20 orchid species and being listed as a French League of Protection of Birds (LPO) refuge. By staying here, you can observe a multitude of butterflies with flaming colours twirling around the campsite.
Again on the La Serre campsite, a hectare of ground is entirely given over to sports activities! There is a football pitch, volleyball and badminton courts, wooden games area, as well as a a covered playground home to a football table and ping-pong tables. Please note that during summer, a children’s club offers creative, arts and crafts and sports activities to young holidaymakers.
As to services, to fully meet your needs, La Serre has a grocery for emergency provisions on-site, also offering regional specialities, and a bread and croissants service every morning. You can also have something to eat at the bar restaurant on-site. For example, this offers pizzas, cooked meats boards, roast chicken or even salads to enjoy on-site or take away.
A perfect campsite to discover the landscapes and treasures of the Ariège department
in the south of France, the Ariège department is both a piedmont region (at the base of the Pyrenees) yet also highly mountainous with numerous tourist attractions. The La Serre campsite is located near the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park, whose superb scenery, can be admired whilst on a hiking or mountain biking trip.
The Ariège department has numerous caves, with or without prehistoric wall art, such as Niaux, Lombrives, the largest in Europe, or even the Labouiche underground river. They also have a significant historical heritage as, for example, with the Léran, Montségur, Puivert, Lagarde and Foix castles.
Lastly, be sure to visit the surrounding markets, such as Mirepoix. A delightful medieval town with timber-framed houses and the Saint-Maurice cathedral restored by the renowned architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, a very large market takes place here every Monday. You can stock up on cheeses with pepper, curry and basil, Saucissons de Sanglier (dry-cured boar meat sausage with typical game flavours) or porc noir (superior quality pork made from pasture-fed pigs), honey, summer vegetables and local beers.
