A holiday in the Dourbie gorges
Crossing the Aveyron department from east to west, the Dourbie gorges contain one of the loveliest campsites in the centre of France. Named Val de Cantobre, this nestles in the village of Nant. It occupies wooded lush grounds laid out as a terrace, offering holidaymakers a breathtaking panoramic view over the undulating massifs around it.
The campsite occupies grounds of several hectares in the vicinity of the road linking the village of Nant to the hilltop village of Cantobre. Built on a rocky spur at 558 metres in altitude, a genuine medieval “eagle’s nest” offering a splendid view over the Dourbie valley and its tributary the Trévézel river, it is one the loveliest villages in France.
Val de Cantobre offers a wide choice of pitches and holiday rental accommodation on its site. These take the form of renovated chalets and modern mobile homes, all offering their occupants comfortable and spacious surroundings. The plots intended to accommodate tents, caravans and campers are also spacious. The majority of them being shaded, they have an electrical connection and a mains water point. The luxury bathroom installations are easily accessible from each pitch.
A campsite with a water park in Nant
A sparsely populated area, the Aveyron department has Rodez as its capital and the towns of Villefranche de Rouergue and Millau as sub-prefectures (administrative districts). Some 29 kilometres away, the town of Millau proves to be the closest to the campsite. There are numerous shops and services, including shopping centres and supermarkets there.
To simplify the life of its holidaymakers, the Val de Cantobre has developed a multitude of services on its campsite. These enable the meeting of the majority of holidaymaker needs during their stay, and avoid them having to take their car when doing their shopping.
This Aveyron campsite has a reception building within which there is a tourist information service, a snack bar with a takeaway service, a restaurant, a bar and even a mini-market. Leisure facilities are present in large numbers.
A family stay on the Larzac plateau
The water park is one of them. Laid out at the heart of the campsite between the pitches and holiday rental areas respectively, it impresses both by its size and the numerous pools which it consists of. In addition to a large rectangular swimming pool, the swimming area of this campsite also has 2 large paddling pools, a landing pool for its water slide, as well as a large superb artificial wild river, descended using an inflatable ring.
Amongst the other sports and leisure facilities at the Val de Cantobre campsite, we can also add the multisports ground, the basketball court, the mini-golf course, the outdoor play area, an area for playing boules, ping-pong tables as well as the games room.
Lastly, this campsite also has an activities team responsible, as its name suggests, for organising events and tournaments for young and old alike. The activity leaders speak several languages and in particular French, English and Dutch, an advantage enabling them to communicate with all holidaymakers. In the high season, the children’s club opens and enables the very young to have fun and make friends, although always remaining their parents’ responsibility whilst on the children’s club premises.
