Walk round Sarrant, one of the loveliest medieval villages in France (with the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” cultural heritage designation). As soon as you’ve gone through the arched gateway, you’ll fall in love with the cobbled streets and magnificent Saint-Vincent church. Before leaving, stock up on Gers gastronomy. You have the pick of foie gras (duck or goose liver speciality), confit (preserved duck meat), fresh grilled duck breast, dried duck breast, cous farcis (stuffed duck neck) and fritons (goose scratchings). Also available are aiguillettes (duck tenderloin), roasted or grilled poultry, duck tajine, cassoulet (meat and bean casserole), rillettes (potted meat) and pâtés.
