You can walk into the town centre of Souillac from the campsite. You can do your shopping here. However, be aware that in the large Les Ondines reception, there is a bread outlet with the option for breakfast delivery and grocery with fresh produce, regional specialities, toiletries and drinks. You can also sit down at one of the campsite restaurant tables, which serves cuisine with local flavours, on the shaded terrace running alongside the swimming pool.
The swimming pool, a location where you’ll be delighted to make the most of the plentiful sunshine in the Dordogne, in the shade of a parasol. A large swimming pool, 20 metres long, to do the crawl or breast-stroke, a shallow paddling pool for the safety of the very young and water heated to 26°C! Explore the natural beauty of the Périgord
The Les Ondines campsite has a fantastic geographical location, enabling you to discover the Lot department, Dordogne valley and Causses du Quercy Regional Nature Park. You’ll find exceptional tourist attractions here, such as the medieval village of Rocamadour, clinging to the cliff side, Lacave caves or even the Gouffre de Padirac (a series of underground caverns). Your children can learn about the evolution of the species, from the Big Bang to the Neolithic era at the Préhisto Dino Parc dinosaur theme park, and watch an impressive fight with animatronic dinosaurs!
Just a stone’s throw from the campsite, sports enthusiasts can hire a bike to cover the trails which run alongside the Dordogne river. In a few pedal strokes, you’ll be in the centre of the delightful town of Souillac and will discover the Sainte-Marie abbey church, dating back to the 12th century. You can also admire the loveliest castles in the Dordogne during a boat trip along the river, aboard a replica of the 18th century gabare (flat-bottomed boat).
Lastly, stop in the must-see medieval town of Sarlat la Canéda, famous for its unique historic heritage. Worth knowing this is the town which, taking France as a whole, has the highest density of listed historic monuments and buildings (with the Monument Historique designation) to its credit!
