The Au Bois des Biches campsite extends over 10 hectares, just a stone’s throw from the Vendée coast, and only a 15-minute bike ride from the Saint Hilaire de Riez beaches, with the cycle path passing right by the grounds. Upon arrival, holidaymakers are immersed in this themed world; the protagonists – the silver doe Sélène, scout squirrel, the hedgehog, guardian of memories, and Lagpin the rabbit guide – bring the story to life. Dotted throughout the grounds, these characters contribute to the site’s enchanting ‘Myths & Legends’ atmosphere. The setting lends itself perfectly to a family stay. Close to the sea and countryside, wooded areas and the atmosphere worthy of a ‘small enchanted kingdom’ provide a complete change of scenery, with Saint Hilaire town centre just 5 minutes away!
On this resort, comfort dwells in the heart of nature. On-site there are traffic-free areas, where you should park your car in a dedicated car park, able move around without using motorised vehicles. Only green means of transport are allowed here (bikes, scooters, etc.). This guarantees families (and especially children) greater tranquillity and safety, with the freedom to come and go around their holiday rental. Cars can’t drive right up to the terraces or holiday rentals, thus further enhancing the location’s tranquillity!
The campsite offers a range of varied accommodation; mobile homes, chalets, out-of-the-ordinary holiday rentals and pitches with private sanitary facilities. The holiday rentals are established in wooded areas, designed so families can make the most of nature without compromising on comfort. Among the most luxurious, the holiday rentals in the ‘Côté Jardin’ area (each with a private garden) notably feature an outdoor bath on the terrace for children to enjoy!

By way of leisure activities, the campsite offers a vast heated water park, with indoor pool, outdoor pools and water slides, crowned by the new ‘La Source’ aqua play area. This is specially designed for children, including a retractable glass canopy and magical backdrop. Nearby in summer, the wellness centre with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and massages entices parents to relax whilst children have fun, in the Les Farfadets adventure playground. Alternatively, they might take part in activities arranged by the ‘Cercle des Explorateurs’ (Explorers’ Guild for those aged 3 to 5) or ‘Club des Magiciens’ – Magicians Guild (for kids 6 to 12) – the campsite mini clubs!
The other leisure facilities on this resort include the ‘House of Secrets’ escape game, and ‘Place du Vieux Chêne’ set in the heart of the campsite. When staying on Au Bois des Biches campsite, your days are shaped by nature and exploring the surrounding area. Whether by bike or on foot, the Forêt Domaniale des Pays de Mont (a coastal national forest running through Saint Hilaire de Riez) stretches for miles within shaded trails. You breathe in the scent of pines, occasionally coming across a roe deer or squirrel, and unhurried you head for the beaches with dunes running alongside. Just a few minutes from the campsite taking the cycle path, large stretches of sand along the coast welcome families for swimming, sand yachting or evening walks…
Not far from here, lies Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, with the charm of its lively port and typical Vendée market. You can enjoy grilled sardines iconic of the coast, before a stroll along the quays, or head for the open sea on a boat trip to the island of Yeu. Further south, Saint Jean de Monts offers an enhanced seaside atmosphere with the promenade, shops and summer activities and entertainment. Inland, Challans and Apremont reveal a different side of the Vendée; villages with tranquil charm, lakes conducive to paddle boarding and picnics and little roads running alongside wooded hedges.
For an exceptional day, head for the Puy du Fou historic theme park, around one hour’s drive from the campsite. This globally renowned park offers a spectacular journey through history from the Vikings to the knights, within a theatrical setting unique in Europe.
