Saint Hilaire de Riez, a genuine small piece of heaven on the Côte de Lumière
With 13 kilometres of rocky and sandy coasts and no less than 600 hectares of national forests, Saint Hilaire de Riez is a leading tourist destination in the Vendée. There are numerous places to discover here. Not far from the Domaine des Pins campsite, cover the magnificent coast road by bike or on foot, and discover the “Trou du Diable” cave (“Devil’s hole”). Do not delay in stopping to enjoy the impressive sight of the waves crashing upon the rocks.
Only 5 kilometres from the campsite, go to the landing stage, and take the boat heading for the Ile d’Yeu. This sublime little island with lovely creeks and its magnificent harbour, will take your breathe away...Continue your sea trip with shore fishing. On the Pilours rock, only accessible at low tide, or on the famous Passage du Gois submersible causeway in Noirmoutier, a unique moment in the middle of nowhere awaits you! In addition, on the coast there is no shortage of gliding sport delights. Surfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, catamaran, and even sand yachting. Have beginner’s water sports sessions, and share a superb moment with friends or family!
If you wish to learn more about the Vendée heritage, climb aboard an unusual barouche horse-drawn carriage for a superb ride with commentary, in the heart of the salt marshes, and only 3 kilometres from the campsite. Lastly, do not leave the Vendée without having visited the famous Puy du Fou!
