Le Bel Air, an atypical campsite on the Ile de Ré
The Le Bel Air campsite enjoys a perfect geographical location amongst pine forests and by the sea in La Flotte en Ré, also known as La Flotte. A member of the Flower Campings group, this establishment rated 4 star does everything possible to make you feel at home on the magnificent Ile de Ré island.
A small piece of heaven in the heart of the island of Ré
Le Bel Air is an establishment “unlike no other”. Here, there are no mobile homes, but magnificent canvas wooden cabins, some built on stilts to experience the Robinson Crusoe life (in comfort obviously!), for a holiday. On this campsite with a human dimension, everything entices you for relaxation, unwinding from life in the fast lane, and reconnecting with nature, the pines, sand and ocean and all the ingredients making the island of Ré so attractive.
The Le Bel Air team offers holidaymakers a new “Premium“ stay mode on basic pitches, with the “Freecamp Guinguette” (outdoor cafe lifestyle) concept. In addition to your plot, you’re find a private shower room (shower, WC, washbasin), indoor and semi-covered living area with an equipped kitchen (small fridge, sink, gas hob) and large table and benches to accommodate up to 6 people in a spirit of conviviality and sharing. To travel light, crockery and cutlery and kitchen utensils are available for hire.
This establishment thinks of all the details, to make your stay as delightful as possible. On-site, you’ll find a grocery for emergency provisions, bread outlet and a regional souvenir shop. You can even treat yourself to the luxury of breakfasts concocted from fresh and local produce, delivered directly to your holiday rental or pitch. If you love making the most of the holiday to cook lovely dishes for your family or friends, take advantage of the shopping delivery service. Order online with the partner supermarket and take delivery at the campsite entrance!
Recharge your batteries in the La Flotte en Ré sunshine
It is a lovely day, the sun is shining in the Ré sky, time for a refreshing swim in the 200 m² swimming pool on the Le Bel Air campsite. You’re welcome to do a few lengths and bask in complete tranquillity on one of the sunloungers in the sunbathing area. Young children can play entirely safely in the paddling pool, watched by their parents, and those who most feel the cold will be delighted to learn that the swimming pool is heated to around 25°C from May to September!
Right near the swimming area, the restaurant snack bar accommodates you every day as you wish, either inside or on the large terrace partially shaded from the sunshine. On the menu: pizzas, burgers, entrecôtes (rib steaks), paninis and summer salads for savoury palates. Crêpes, ice creams and gourmet desserts for those with a sweet tooth. Not forgetting the bar menu, sharing platters for convivial pre-dinner drinks with friends and themed evening meals.
In July and August, activity leaders accommodate children aged 4 to 12 at the Mister Flower Club, the campsite kids club, with delight and good humour from Monday to Friday. On the programme, there are face-painting workshops, team games, orienteering races and producing shows with Dino, the campsite mascot. On the Le Bel Air campsite, you’ll also find a play area with a pirate ship, bouncy castle, ping-pong tables, pétanque courts and archery range.
The lle de Ré, a gem in the Charente Maritime
The island of Ré is a protected natural setting with a relaxing atmosphere and magnificent scenery. The simplest means of transport to move from village to village is the bike, 138 kilometres of cycle paths being laid out over the island! Moreover, you can hire a traditional bike, e-bike, for adults, children and even a trailer, at the campsite reception. Remember to book before you arrive and go off to explore the beaches, narrow alleyways lined with white-washed housed having coloured shutters, vineyards, pine forests and salt marshes. These have made the reputation of the “Island of Light”, the nickname for Ré...
Only 900 metres from the campsite, discover Arnérault beach, just a stone’s throw from the port and the centre of the village of La Flotte. This sheltered bay is perfect for a walk by the water, session of idleness on the sand and beginners kite flying. Get on your bike heading for the breathtakingly high Phare des Baleines lighthouse, go round the local market stalls and have a seafood stop in an oyster-farming hut!
Your stay on the Le Bel Air campsite will also be the chance to visit La Rochelle, famous for the gentle way of life, and old harbour, dominated by the Tour de la Chaîne and Tour Saint-Nicolas towers. This city with a wealth of architectural heritage combines style and relaxation. From the cobbled streets of the old town to the sun-drenched cafe terraces to the ultra-modern aquarium, you’ll no doubt have lovely memories of your trip to La Rochelle.
