At the heart of the Les Mathes forest just a stone’s throw from the famous tourist attractions of La Palmyre, including the Luna Park amusement attraction and the La Palmyre Zoo, the Côté Ô L’Estanquet campsite is located. This top-end establishment has a lovely water park offering holidaymakers excellent holiday resort conditions. There is certainly plenty to appeal to holidaymakers!
A Les Mathes campsite with high-end mobile homes
Nestling in the wooded surroundings of the Les Mathes forest, in Charente Maritime, and close to the Atlantic coast, the Côté Ô L’Estanquet campsite offers holidaymakers coming to stay here quality services, as well as varied facilities and a multitude of accommodation solutions. Just a stone’s throw from the town centre of La Palmyre, this establishment occupies a campsite of around 10 hectares, and several kilometres of Atlantic coast beaches.
Côté Ô L’Estanquet has adapted to the ever more varied demands of holidaymakers, by making available to them a wide choice of pitches and accommodation. Plots intended to accommodate traditional campers are classified into 2 distinct ranges, bare pitches and Prestige bare pitches (upmarket), aware that everyone is expecting a surface area of between 80 and 140 m², able to accommodate up to 6 people maximum. They are equipped with an electrical connection.
The bare Prestige pitches are new for 2020 on this La Palmyre campsite. Each of the plots of this range include a small kitchen equipped with a fridge, a microwave oven and a sink, a shower room with a shower and separate WC. Certainly plenty here to spend an excellent open-air holiday.
The accommodation is divided into 9 different ranges, ranging from the simple chalet to the most top-of-the-range mobile home. This has 2 Standing (high-end) ranges, 2 and 3 bedrooms. Modern, they have been put in during 2020; these mobile homes have a semi-covered terrace with plancha, garden furniture set and sunloungers. Inside, holidaymakers can take advantage of an equipped kitchen, a master suite, 1 or 2 other bedrooms, a bathroom and a television.
A dream holiday as a family on the La Palmyre campsite
On-site, holidaymakers are guaranteed to want for nothing. The campsite indeed brings together an entire range of shops and services, ranging from a grocery to a bakery, including the restaurant, the snack bar - takeaway, the bar, the launderette, and even the bicycle hire service. If this is not enough, holidaymakers also have the opportunity to enjoy the services offered by the neighbouring campsite and a member of the same chain, Côté Ô La Palmyre Les Sables de Cordouan.
A leading attraction of this campsite, the water park consists of a large outdoor swimming pool of 500 m², water slides and a paddling pool. The last one enables the very young to have fun in a pool more adapted to their shape. Sunloungers are available around the large swimming pool to make the most of the sunshine. It is worth noting that the long beaches of the Charente coast are within the vicinity of the campsite, for example the the closest being barely 4 kilometres away.
And should the beach or the water park not be enough to be the height of delight for children and teenagers, they can join one of the 3 mini-clubs on the campsite. Managed by staff with contagious good humour, thanks to these clubs they can participate in activities, each more fun than the others, such as orienteering races, tournaments, creative workshops, evenings for the young or shows.
Charente Maritime, a leading tourist destination
For the older amongst you, the multi-sports ground, beginners’ archery lessons, or muscle strengthening in the swimming pool and ping-pong tables are all the more reason to have fun, without having to leave the campsite. Come evening, themed nights enable you to extend the delight in good humour, over a drink on the bar terrace.
The surrounding areas lend themselves to numerous trips out and discoveries. The Phare de la Courbe lighthouse, with its stairs with 300 steps to reach the summit, is for example a few kilometres from here. From the lighthouse, unrestricted views over the Bonne Anse bay, the Gironde estuary and the Ile d’Oléron island are on offer to those curious to see. Amongst other major tourist attractions situated in the area surrounding La Palmyre, is Fort Boyard fort, the Ile d’Aix and the Ile de Ré islands, or even the Roche Courbon castle, the largest castle in the Charente Maritime. Its magnificent gardens are classified, along with the castle itself, as one of the “monuments historiques” (historic monuments).
Lastly, a further must-see location to visit is the famous Zoo de La Palmyre, which with its 1,600 mammals, birds and reptiles, is one of the largest zoological gardens in France. Please note that it is possible to buy tickets for access to the zoo directly from reception.
