Les Cabanes d’Oléron - a luxury campsite in Saint Georges d’Oléron
Previously known by the name Saint Hubert, the Les Cabanes d’Oléron campsite has adopted this name in 2020, a year marked by the campsite’s modernization and new investments by its owner, the camping and caravanning group Vagues Océanes. These investments have contributed to making this establishment one of the loveliest campsites on the Ile d’Oléron island.
A 4-star campsite on the Ile d’Oléron
Located in Saint-Georges-d’Oléron, the Les Cabanes d’Oléron campsite is a high-end outdoor establishment rated 4 star. Its geographical location enables holidaymakers here to tour around the entire Ile d'Oléron island, affectionately known as “The Island of Light”. The closest beaches to the campsite are less than 1.5 kilometres away, and you should allow around half an hour by road to reach the mainland, by crossing the Oléron viaduct and arriving in Marennes.
A campsite with a human dimension, this establishment is less 200 metres from its big brother, if you will, Les Grosses Pierres, a 5-star outdoor establishment, also part of the Vagues Océanes group. Tourists staying on the campsite Les Cabanes d'Oléron can thus make the most of entertainment in the evening. But although the larger one sets out to be incessantly lively, Les Cabanes d’Oléron is characterized by its peace and tranquillity.
A peace which enables you to spend a restful and relaxing stay in wooded and green grounds. The grounds thus have large shaded and in bloom plots to accommodate caravans and canvas tents, as well as various types of mobile homes. These are split over the area and are divided up into 5 ranges.
Mobile homes with superbly decorated Bobo-chic surroundings
The mobile homes in the “Les Cabanes d’Oléron” range are guaranteed to be the most amazing. They offer Bobo-chic surroundings with their wood interior and out-of-the-ordinary decor, and have a large number of facilities, including a TV, a dishwasher, a gas plancha, 2 bikes on the plot and free Wi-Fi.
Once settled on to the campsite, holidaymakers can make the most of its numerous facilities. This establishment thus features a grocery, a snack bar - takeaway (both open in July and August), a bar with televisions, a launderette and other facilities. Every day in July and August, a free shuttle bus stops near the Les Cabanes d’Oléron and Les Grosses Pierres campsites, enabling the transport of holidaymakers who wish to use it from these two establishments to Les Bonnes and La Cotinière beaches. In addition this service goes to the Saint-Georges-d’Oléron market and Boyardville.
This 4-star campsite in Charente-Maritime also has recreational and aquatic facilities for the greatest delight of holidaymakers. Transformed at the beginning of the 2020 season, the water park consists of a large heated outdoor pool and an entirely new indoor heated swimming pool. A small children’s pool, a Jacuzzi and new water slides complete the entire complex. It is worth noting that the outdoor pools are only accessible from June.

The other facilities on Les Cabanes d’Oléron campsite include a multisports ground, ping-pong tables, a petanque court, as well as a children’s outdoor play area. Partly adjoining the Les Grosses Pierres campsite, as barely some 200 metres separates them, this establishment also offers its residents the opportunity to take part in activities and entertainment, organized by the neighbouring campsite.
These activities include aquaerobics sessions, sports tournaments, trips out by bike, show nights and themed evenings. Younger ones can join the mini-clubs of the Les Grosses Pierres, namely the Smarties Club for those aged 4 to 7 and the Juniors’ Club for those aged 8 to 11.
Lastly, a stay on the Les Cabanes d’Oléron campsite is the opportunity to go out and discover the wonders of the Island of Light and, more generally, the Charente coast. Many historical sites, such as the Fort Boyard and Fort Louvois forts, and the walled town of Château d’Oléron, should be visited. On the mainland the former arsenal of Rochefort, the port of registry of the L’Hermione ship, the reconstruction of General La Fayette’s frigate, Marennes, the Zoo de La Palmyre zoo and even Royan are significant tourist sites.
