After a hearty breakfast served in the campsite cafeteria, you can slip on your swimwear, cover yourself with sun cream and go and have a dip in one of the campsite water park’s two swimming pools. This consists of a large swimming pool with a sunbathing area laid to lawn running alongside, and shallow paddling pool/swimming pool for children. Right nearby, there is a toddlers’ play area and “Chiringuito”, a small bar serving cold drinks and snacks.
This Punta Umbría campsite has a large children’s play area with an impressive pirate ship to climb, and numerous slides to tear down. There are also petanque courts, ping-pong tables, a table football game and large beach football pitch available for holidaymakers. A bike hire service means you can get around the campsite and local area with ease. Moreover, the campsite activity leaders regularly organize boat and canoeing trips.
The campsite is just 200 metres away from La Bota beach and near the Los Enebrales Nature Reserve. This extends over 162 hectares, between sand dunes and a pine and juniper forest. You’ll also be near the Odiel marshes, a vast natural area designated a “biosphere reserve” by UNESCO, given its botanical richness and important position on the migration routes for numerous birds between Europe and Africa. You can glimpse various species here, such as the grey heron, egret, black stork, crane and magnificent pink flamingos.
Discover Huelva province and Andalusian culture
Huelva province, situated between Portugal and Cádiz province is bathed in the Atlantic Ocean. There are numerous beaches here for water sports, but also mountain landscapes and the magnificent Doñana National Park. In Huelva, you can visit the La Merced cathedral, admiring the colourful facade. Make the most of it to enjoy regional culinary specialities, such as large white shrimp, Pata Negra cured ham and the “Condado de Huelva” wines (with their protected designation of origin).
Only one hour from the campsite, Seville abounds in truly exceptional historic and cultural buildings. Be sure to visit Seville cathedral, the third largest Gothic building in the world and on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, as well as the La Giralda bell tower, the impressive minaret being 104 metres high. Discover the Alcázar royal palace and have a drink on the magnificent Plaza de España square. Maybe, as you wander around, you’ll even come across flamenco dancers.
From Playa la Bota campsite, you’ll only be a few kilometres from the Portuguese border. The perfect chance for a trip to Faro, the capital of the Algarve, surrounded by medieval ramparts. This picturesque city, by the sea, abounds in Roman and Moorish archaeological remains. Go off to explore the magnificent Largo da Sé square, dominated by the Bishop’s Palace (Paço Episcopal) and cathedral with a Gothic bell tower. The interior is a real architectural gem, displaying 17th and 18th century art.
