La Grenouillère, a top-of-the range campsite amidst the Loire châteaux
At least some 15 kilometres from Blois and Chambord, 2 of the most famous Loire châteaux, the La Grenouillère campsite is located. A member of the Capfun group, this establishment rated 4 star extends over a wooded park of 11 hectares, and has lovely recreational and aquatic facilities…
A campsite full of charm...
In the heart of the Loir et Cher, the little commune of Suèvres is fortunate in accommodating one of the département’s loveliest campsites. This establishment - the campsite La Grenouillère, occupies an 11-hectare park situated just a stone’s throw from the banks of the Loire. Not far from Blois, the holidaymakers who come and stay there can thus make the most of a perfect setting to rest, have fun but also discover the multitude of châteaux and historic monuments of the surrounding area.
Moreover, the campsite, wooded and lush, has itself been laid out within the park of a magnificent little château. Under the trees, which are often more than a hundred years’ old, nestle holiday rentals and plots for camping and caravanning. The plots stretch over an average surface area of 80 m², and all have an electrical connection. You can pitch a tent, set up a caravan or indeed even a camper there.
The holiday rentals are both numerous and varied. Although the majority of them are mobile homes, La Grenouillère also offers for those who desire it the possibility of glamping stays, having accommodation which is, to say the least, out-of-the-ordinary. Dubbed “Sun de Falabraque”, this can accommodate up to 6 people with its 3 bedrooms and a surface area of 33 m².
An aquatic park amidst the châteaux...
For the well being of holidaymakers, during their stay in this Loire Valley campsite, La Grenouillère has several shops and services, which aim to meet the majority of their needs and expectations. For example, there is on site a bar-restaurant, open from April to September, a grocery open over the same period, a launderette with washing machines and a tumble dryer and a Wi-Fi network covering the all of the campsite’s pitches. We should emphasize that the main supermarket is only 2 kilometres from the campsite.
La Grenouillère also has a games room and several outdoor recreational areas, such as a play area for children, an inflatable structure, a multi sports ground, a tennis court, a pétanque court, ping pong tables, as well as an outdoor fitness area. In the centre of the campsite, and just a stone’s throw from the château, is an aquatic park.
This facility impresses with its multiple heated pools, its indoor swimming pool, its paddling pool for children with mushroom sprinklers and its water slides, each more insane than the others! There is even a Spacebowl there, a thrill seeking slide, as daredevils are thrown about within a vast siphon!
Multiple and varied ideas for trips out...
To all of these facilities, is added an entire programme of entertainments and activities during the season. A team of activity leaders are responsible for organising all of these events, and moreover 4 evenings take place each week in July and August. Three mini-clubs are open on the site during this period: the Clapou club for those aged 4 to 7, the Policator club for youngsters aged 8 and 12 and the Nobodys club for those aged 13 to 17.
Ideally situated in the département of Loir et Cher, the La Grenouillère campsite proves to be a perfect stopping point for the curious who wish to make the most of their stay in Suèvres to go out and explore the Châteaux of the Loire, and the Valley of the Kings. The most famous of the châteaux, Chambord, is thus only located fifteen minutes by road. The town of Blois, which is also home to a royal château, is 25 kilometres from the campsite, whilst the châteaux of Cheverny and Chaumont sur Loire are respectively located 33 and in 38 kilometres from the campsite.
Although the Loire valley is famous for its châteaux, the region offers much more besides. The Loir et Cher is a very good example since this département is home to the Zoo de Beauval, one of the most famous French animal parks, the Maison de la Magie (home to magical events and exhibits) in Blois and the Musée Espace Automobile Matra (museum on the Matra brand with car exhibits) in Romorantin-Lanthenay. It also houses the Musée Léonard de Vinci (Leonardo da Vinci museum) of Le Clos Lucé and others. Such visits never have any shortage of surprises for adults and children in equal measure!
