La Farigoulette, a 5-star campsite in the Verdon river valley
The La Farigoulette campsite is located on the shores of the lake in Saint Laurent du Verdon, in the Alpes de Haute Provence department. The La Farigoulette campsite enjoys an idyllic location. The campsite, which stretches over several hectares in the heart of a lush pine forest, runs alongside the lake in Saint Laurent du Verdon. The Lac de Sainte Croix lake, the gateway to the famous Verdon gorges and amongst the largest lakes in France, is located a few kilometres upstream of the campsite.
High-end accommodation
Delightfully wooded and well-maintained, this 5-star campsite has 250 pitches including 185 holiday rentals. The 65 basic pitches are intended to accommodate campers and their tent, caravan or camper van. The latter plots enjoy an area which, in some cases, can go up to 120 m² and all are equipped with a 10-amp electrical connection.
With a surface area ranging from 25 m² to 60 m² , they combine the charm of timber and the comfort of the modern. Fully equipped, these tents enable you to have a glamping stay in the heart of the Verdon gorges!
Numerous facilities
The La Farigoulette campsite offers you numerous facilities.
Around the pool, the sunbathing area has a multitude of sunbeds and parasols, for lovers of idleness. During the campsite season, aquaerobics sessions are run in the swimming pool every morning.
Other activities and entertainment are organised every morning on the campsite during the high season. Water-polo tournaments in the swimming pool, padel tennis matches, beginners’ canoeing, archery, pétanque, a circus, hiking, fitness. There are even concerts, shows and an evening market on offer to you.
Moreover, La Farigoulette has a natural beach and an actual water sports centre. Canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, pedalos, but also electrical boats, are offered for hire.
Exploring the Alpes de Haute Provence department
Staying at the La Farigoulette campsite, is a unique opportunity to go out and explore the fabulous treasures of the Alpes de Haute Provence department. Amongst these, the Verdon gorges canyon is undoubtedly the department’s most spectacular tourist attraction. The river’s water, with its unique and exceptional colour, leaves nobody visiting here unmoved. A panoramic road, which is 23 kilometres long, winds through the crests of the so-called “grand canyon”. Here and there, visitors can stop and admire the view on offer, sometimes with a nearly 700 metres sheer drop below them!
Numerous tourists discover this canyon by boat, canoe, pedalo or stand-up paddle board. Others prefer to explore it by hiking. Various footpaths enable those intrigued to reach panoramic viewpoints, where numerous sublime views are on offer to them.
The Baudinard gorges, hollowed out by the Verdon river and located downstream of the campsite, are equally exceptional. A hiking path, running alongside the water course, cut out of the cliffs, enables you to discover a multitude of caves.
Close to the La Farigoulette campsite, you can also visit Moustiers Sainte Marie, Tourtour or even Valensole. These are some of the most beautiful villages in France! It is also worth noting that the Musée de la Prehistoire des Gorges du Verdon (a museum with archeological artefacts and prehistoric exhibits) is in Quinson, a few minutes by road from the Saint-Laurent du Verdon commune.
