The peace of the scrubland, just a stone’s throw from the Ardèche gorges
Domaine de Sévenier & Spa is not, strictly speaking, a campsite. Located in Lagorce, in the Ardèche, it is a 5-star village with chalets. In spite of the fact that you cannot pitch your tent or set up your caravan here, it must be said though that its high-end facilities correspond to the most beautiful campsites in the surrounding area...
A village of chalets at the heart of Le Vivarais
The history of the Domaine de Sévenier & Spa goes back to well before it was transformed into a luxury open-air resort. As a matter of fact, well before the arrival of the first tourists in Lagorce, the place was occupied by a vineyard. Its situation, on the top of a hill, offered a magnificent view onto the surroundings, once all covered with vineyards.
If some flanks are still dotted with grape varieties, the Ardèche garrigue has regained its place on what is now commonly called a little piece of paradise. Even if the ambient peace and quiet may be interrupted by the chirp of crickets, it is nonetheless true that the Domaine de Sévenier & Spa remains a haven of peace where you feel good, just five minutes from the entrance to the Ardèche gorges, crowded with tourists...
Unique to the Domaine de Sévenier & Spa, this member campsite of the Les Castels group has no pitches enabling the pitching of tents, or setting up caravans or campers. It is rather a village of rental chalets, and the property is divided into three different districts. The first of them, superbly exposed in front of the rising sun, is the hamlet "Les Vignes". The second is "Les Faïsses", home to many chalets in the shade of majestic centenary oaks. Finally, the third is "La Colline", with chalets reserved for families or friends staying in large groups!
A small piece of paradise in the sun
These comfortable and fully equipped chalets are ideal holiday homes, established around perfectly renovated buildings, once part of the former wine estate. They form the very heart of the establishment, and it is no coincidence that the swimming pool of the Domaine de Sévenier & Spa is located nearby.
Heated off season, this pool has a sunbathing area with many sun loungers. In one of the annex buildings running alongside this aqua park, the restaurant offers guests a menu with local dishes and fine wines directly sourced from the region.
In addition to the swimming pool and the restaurant of the campsite, holidaymakers can also enjoy a high-end facility within this 5-star Ardèche campsite. Entirely given over to wellness and staying in shape, this comprises a 30 m² air-conditioned fitness area, with a treadmill, cross trainer and a range of body-building equipment. It has large picture windows offering a panoramic view over the forests of the Ardèche. This complex includes a 30 m² wellness and spa area, offering massage and beauty treatments, which is also air-conditioned with a balcony opening on to the Sévenier vegetable garden.
Lastly, a relaxation area of 30 m², located on a panoramic 130 m² terrace which enjoys a superb view over the Gorges de l'Ardèche (Ardèche gorges), the Vallée de l'Ibie (the Ibie valley) and the neighbouring vineyards, is home to a barrel sauna and a spa made from Red Cedar. Plenty to relax and make you feel good, during your holiday at Lagorce!
Finally a seminar room, being 98 m² and able to accommodate up to 70 people, can host various events and celebrations such as seminars, birthdays, weddings and much more besides.
Just a stone’s throw from the loveliest Ardèche tourist attractions
Located in Lagorce, in the southern Ardèche, Domaine de Sévenier is an ideal starting point for exploring the loveliest tourist attractions in the region. Amongst these, obviously there are the fabulous Ardèche gorges, with their gateway in Vallon Pont d'Arc, a border village next to Lagorce.
In this village we also find the Pont d'Arc, a natural arch of 60 meters heigh. It marks the beginning of the trail that many kayakers and canoeists take to navigate down the river and admire the beautiful landscapes, over a dozen of kilometres. Some, such as the Balcony of the Knights Templar or the Madeleine Circus are real postcard sceneries and the pride of the Ardèche.
If the Ardèche gorges are the most frequented site of the Department, there are countless other treasures to discover in the Ardèche. Inhabited since prehistoric times, it boasts an extraordinary heritage that can be found through its prehistoric caves (including the Chauvet Cave), its ancient ruins (Alba la Romaine), its ancestral hamlets and some of these, like Balazuc or Voguë, are among the most beautiful villages of France, or through its medieval castles (Aubenas, Crussol, Rochemaure, Ventadour, etc.).
Another major tourist site in the Ardèche is Mont Gerbier de Joncs. It sees every year several thousands of tourists coming by, wishing to admire the source of the Loire, a tiny trickle of water gushing from the mountain, and flowing more than 1,000 kilometres further into the Atlantic ocean...
