You will most certainly fall under the raw and wild spell of the largest of the Iles du Ponant islands. With erosion, schist is not polished: it crumbles creating unique panoramas, full of contrast.
Thus, as you walk along the coastal path, you will pass the spectacular sculpted cliffs of the “Pointe de Tailleferre” headland, the “Aiguilles de Port Coton” needles immortalised by the painter, Claude Monet, or even the “Grotte Marine de l’Apothicairerie”, a sea cave said to resemble apothecary bottles. Then enjoy the peace of the splendid beaches of Bordadoué, Donnant and Les Grands Sables, particularly recommended for families.
You will be able to do shore fishing, a treetop adventure course, and try scuba diving in the crystal-clear and invigorating waters of the Bay of Biscay. Also visit the disused military fort transformed into a residence by the great tragic actress, Sarah Bernhardt, at the end of the 19th century, which has nowadays become a museum. Not forgetting to climb to the top of the Kervilahouen lighthouse, go all over the Vauban citadel and stroll in the alleyways of Le Palais.
In addition to its crazy charm and wild and unique countryside, the Belle Ile en Mer island enjoys of plenty sunshine, which even enables Mediterranean plants to thrive. No doubt you will be bowled over by the landscapes, as varied as they are exceptional of one of the gems of the Morbihan
