An exceptional campsite in the Haute Provence
On the heights of Volonne, typical charming small Provençal village, lies campsite Sunêlia L'Hippocampe. With its 4 stars and its location in the Alpes de Haute Provence, L'Hippocampe counts among one of the most beautiful campsites in the region.
A holiday with your feet in the water
Member of the Sunêlia chain, a faction of exceptional campsites, l'Hippocampe extends over an area of 11 hectares, where the gentle and quiet Durance flows, a river that at that precise location, and because a dam has been built more downstream, gets the appearance of a huge lake.
This idyllic location combined with the fact that the property is today largely wooded and green (olive trees have grown!), ensure tourists comfortable, shady and spacious pitches, with a surface ranging from 100 to 130 m².
As for the modern and comfortable rentals, they form a rich and varied range adapted to all families and budgets. We retain the luxury mobile homes, their design and equipment are worthy of the most beautiful holiday accommodations.
A holiday program with sports and relaxation
Taking advantage of its location on the shores of the Durance, l'Hippocampe has built a pier on its banks, so the guests can enjoy the water to canoe, kayak or water bike! The river also allows fishermen addicted to their passion to fish in a relaxed environment.
For swimming, the guests should turn towards the water park of the campsite. 500 m² of water and fun will fill the tourists with happiness. With two swimming pools (heated off season), its paddling pool and its five water slides, it is the Number 1 attraction of l'Hippocampe.
When the sun loungers near the pools are all occupied, you can enjoy the lawned area to tan and indulge in idleness. Close to the swimming pools, the wellness area allows campers to offer themselves well-deserved massage sessions.
Lubéron, Verdon and Mercantour
Halfway between Sisteron and Digne les Bains, l'Hippocampe enjoys an ideal location to discover the Department of the Alpes de Haute Provence. The Alpes de Haute Provence, semi mountainous territory, dotted with rivers and gorges, has many assets to attract tourists.
A few dozen kilometres further south of l'Hippocampe, the fabulous Gorges du Verdon are a perfect example of this. It is indeed between the lakes of Sainte Croix and Esparron that the Verdon has hollowed out the mountains to clear a path to the Valley of the Durance. Deep and dramatic, these canyons are considered by many as the most beautiful canyons in Europe. It must be said that the colour of the water, a mixture of green and turquoise blue, leaves no one indifferent. Thousands of tourists descend canoeing in the Gorges du Verdon every year.
It is also in the Alpes de Haute Provence that we find the nature park of Mercantour, a natural area of great beauty, where fauna and flora cohabit in perfect harmony. Finally, the Luberon massif reserves many surprises to tourists, discover it on foot or on a horseback...
